SFM10

I'm re-posting this one, due to a little trigger-happy post I did early last week... the official launch of the website and the postcards was this weekend, and now that I have all my facts sorted out, I can do this for realz this time:) Here it is:

The Shiny Fuzzy Muddy show started 10 years ago with current members being Laura McKibbon, Astrosatchel, Kari Woo and Arleigh Wood. Each year they invite a crew of other artists, designers and makers whose work fits in with the adverbs shiny, fuzzy, or muddy to join their holiday show! This year it's at the Heritage Hall on Main street in Vancouver on December 12 & 13.

P.S. If you would like to receive my quarterly newsletters (via email), and/or be mailed this lovely postcard via email, please email me at heather@dahlhausart.com with your postal address or just your email. I am hosting a 15% off until November 15th sale on my etsy and dahlhaus shop which all subscribers can benefit from no matter where you are from!

dahlhaus eye candy in Red & Peach

A little eye candy today from my poppy series with red and peach poppies. Familiar work of mine, but re-photographed to up-date my shop, apply for shows, etc. I'm hoping this last photoshoot can keep me going for another 6 months or so before I start itching to do another one! Whenever I see the photos, I fall 'in love' with my work all over again! My work is extremely tedious and labour-intensive to make, and sometimes, when I'm in the midst of glazing, I wonder if it's going to be worth it in the end. Definitely worth it when I see the photos.

In other news, I was reminded about the ETSY MEET-UP tonight, with admin staff from Etsy here in Vancouver for the evening. Starts at 7pm at the Cambrian Hall- should be a good get-together!

Weekend Fun

A backyard camp-out, complete with a pit fire and some smores, good company and a sleep-over in the tent to boot!
And some vintage camera finds at the local Salvation Army. For a sweet deal too!
This week I'm spending my mornings helping out with a kids club that my boys are attending, so I'll be a little slow on the studio front.

Shopping Around...

One of my new 'resolutions' for working smarter, not harder in 2009 inclues upping my on-line sales this year. I've been more deliberate about my etsy site since September and it has started to pay off. However, I'm not getting the kind of traffic on etsy that I really need. I have a few itemes that have over 200 hits, but it seems that not a lot of people are finding my store. Finding stores on etsy is like finding a needle in a haystack sometimes, there is so much stuff to be seen. So this past week I went shop-shopping.

Now, if you will notice on the side of my blog, I have a link to my new online shop! It will be my 'staple' shop and contain the most popular items I make. What I like about the layout is that it really looks like an extension of my website. I invite you to stop by and have a look!
(I have to put this clause in here... if you do shop, which I always encourage people to do, there will be a little bit of a 'wait time' on your order for some things which are 'in process' still, but which will be ready to ship by the end of the month!)

Furthermore, starting January 19th through February 20th my work is going to be featured on a great site called Paper 'n Stitch! I'm quite excited about the promotion- it's a beautiful site that features up to 50 designers, makers, and artists from all over the world, for one month. The site links the work up to my new shop where people can actually make a purchase!

I will still have my etsy site up and running, but it will be for the extras, sales, samples and seconds too. It's always worth checking out- I often have sweet deals there!
