Back Alley Evening Stroll: East Van

It's a really pretty time of year.  There are tons of leaves changing colours and each street in our new neighbourhood seems to be lined with a different kind of tree.  I'm waiting for the street next to us to change into bright red maple colours, while our Oak lined street is turning to brown leaves with acorns falling all over the place.  It makes me a little nervous on the street lined with chestnut trees, these huge clod-hopper chestnuts falling at random.

The Shiny Fuzzy Muddy show started 10 years ago with current members being Laura McKibbon, Astrosatchel, Kari Woo and Arleigh Wood. Each year they invite a crew of other artists, designers and makers whose work fits in with the adverbs shiny, fuzzy, or muddy to join their holiday show! This year it's at the Heritage Hall on Main street in Vancouver on December 12 & 13.

Yellow on Monday

Jan from Poppytalk has started an 'Autumn Colour Week' over on her blog and asked others to join in. Yellow on Monday, Green on Tuesday, Orange on Wednesday, Brown on Thursday and Red on Friday! What a cool challenge!

Thinking ahead...

Fall-winter has been on my brain since May for some reason- possibly registering my youngest son for Kindergarten had something to do with it, or maybe it's that I've had to apply for all my Christmas shows in spring and was able to get word back regarding which ones I got into. Anyways, for all those reasons and more, I've been planning the fall and wanted to share with you some news!
The first thing that's on my radar is that my work is moving East! The Gardiner Museum Shop in Toronto has requested my work and I'm working out an order to send to them in time for mid-September! This is really exciting for me- The Gardiner Museum is a ceramic museum mostly specializing in historic ceramics, but they often have contemporary ceramic shows there as well. Since they showcase ceramics from all across Canada, it feels quite an honour to be included!
I have a few more things in the works that I'm waiting to hear back on, but until then, I'm really excited to be part of the Shiny Fuzzy Muddy Show and Sale for their 10th edition December 12 & 13 at Heritage Hall on Main st.! This is a really great group of artists and designers who have been organizing this invitation-only Christmas show for the past 9 years. I'm super excited to be included and I'll be sure to post more later on in the year.

Giving Thanks!

It was a weekend to get back to my roots, return to the land, and give thanks for the things that count. Thanksgiving weekend usually takes us to at least two family dinners and a few friend get-to-gethers' as well. We made our way all over the Lower Mainland this weekend and from looking at the photos again, I realize how much I have to be thankful for.
