Shiny Fuzzy Muddy 14: This Weekend!

I've been busy since the Crawl trying to make some new work for the Shiny Fuzzy Muddy show coming up this weekend! The show is a highly curated collection of great makers, artists and designers- some coming from Alberta, but mostly from BC.  I'm really excited to be part of the show!

Shiny Fuzzy Muddy Lucky 13 this weekend!

The Shiny Fuzzy Muddy Show is happening this coming weekend!  Please do come out and support artists and makers from BC and Alberta who have been hand-picked by the founding group of artists! The show is free to check out (always a bonus!) and there is an amazing contest going on right now in the Georgia Straight to be able to win a $250 shopping spree at SFM13!  Sign up online for that (don't forget to find out the skill testing question on the SFM Blog!) and while you're there, have a little look through the amazing artists and designers that will be at the show! Please do come by the show and say hello to me! I managed to get in a couple more kiln firings before this weekend, so there will be some new work ready for the show and I can't wait!

shiny fuzzy muddy, Muddy edition

I'm doing a quick post before returning to day 2 of the shiny fuzzy muddy show.  It's been a great experience so far- the show has such amazing work, it's not an overwhelming show (as in not too much stuff) and the response from the public has been amazing! Thank you everyone who came by yesterday to support local artists!  I nearly sold out of a lot of what I had brought, so I'm off to the studio this morning to replenish the stock! A good sign!
So here is a look at the Muddy portion of the show-  hey day designs, dahlhaus, cul de sac (aka Laura McKibbon), and Jasnart.  All of us do such different work, but it's a great mix to put together. A little slipcast porcelain, wheel-thrown Porcelain Cone 6, and hand-built lowfire with screenprinted designs, and Jasna's beautiful sculpture and wall art.  I'm being a little lazy with the links today, due to time constraints, but will be back tomorrow with more work to look at!
PS my Etsy shop is currently on vacation!  I'm gearing down in a big way this week and any left over work will be at the BC Gallery of Ceramics come thursday!

starting to look like Christmas

With the boys getting excited about Christmas I pulled out their little Christmas Tree and all the little ornaments that they've made over the years to get us all in the spirit.  It's a real menagerie of stuff, but it makes the house feel cozy when it gets dark and cold by 4:30pm.  Along with a few of our Christmas Records from the Vinyl collection, we are starting to listen to Christmas music too.  Also been checking out Bliss in a Teacups Christmas playlist she has on her blog these days! Worth checking in on daily:)
My Etsy Shop might look a little bare, but I do have a fair bit at the studio and am taking last calls for Christmas orders by December 10th. This really only works best for local people as shipping just gets more dicey and expensive after the 15th of December.  I've still got Shiny Fuzzy Muddy coming up on the 12th and 13th with some new work coming out by next week!  Busy Elf!

I'm re-posting this one, due to a little trigger-happy post I did early last week... the official launch of the website and the postcards was this weekend, and now that I have all my facts sorted out, I can do this for realz this time:) Here it is:

The Shiny Fuzzy Muddy show started 10 years ago with current members being Laura McKibbon, Astrosatchel, Kari Woo and Arleigh Wood. Each year they invite a crew of other artists, designers and makers whose work fits in with the adverbs shiny, fuzzy, or muddy to join their holiday show! This year it's at the Heritage Hall on Main street in Vancouver on December 12 & 13.

Thinking ahead...

Fall-winter has been on my brain since May for some reason- possibly registering my youngest son for Kindergarten had something to do with it, or maybe it's that I've had to apply for all my Christmas shows in spring and was able to get word back regarding which ones I got into. Anyways, for all those reasons and more, I've been planning the fall and wanted to share with you some news!
The first thing that's on my radar is that my work is moving East! The Gardiner Museum Shop in Toronto has requested my work and I'm working out an order to send to them in time for mid-September! This is really exciting for me- The Gardiner Museum is a ceramic museum mostly specializing in historic ceramics, but they often have contemporary ceramic shows there as well. Since they showcase ceramics from all across Canada, it feels quite an honour to be included!
I have a few more things in the works that I'm waiting to hear back on, but until then, I'm really excited to be part of the Shiny Fuzzy Muddy Show and Sale for their 10th edition December 12 & 13 at Heritage Hall on Main st.! This is a really great group of artists and designers who have been organizing this invitation-only Christmas show for the past 9 years. I'm super excited to be included and I'll be sure to post more later on in the year.
