A sad goodbye
It's been a really sad week for our family as we lost our kitty, Amber Tiger, who was hit by a car late last week. We were all quite attached to Amber, especially Johnny, who is really devastated by what has happened. There have been some speeding cars up and down our quiet road as of late- she was just crossing the road right in front of our house when it happened (though we didn't see it and the person didn't stop!) but by the time someone came to the door to let me know she was on the road, she was gone. I am really thankful there was no blood and that the boys were able to help me get her back to the house without there being the trauma of their kitty as road-kill on top of it. We have cried and feel as though our house is just not the same without her here. Missing her lots...

Cat Nap Yoga
Yup, she's sound asleep in these photos in all her stretched out glory. Doesn't it just make you want to curl up and take a nap?!
I've been solo-parenting again this weekend but am so grateful for neighbours and friends who were kind enough to invite us to dinner or to go swimming so we weren't lonely or bored. The boys even managed to help me at the studio one morning, unloading and loading yet another kiln load of bottle vases. 4 of 6 glaze kiln-loads (85 vases per firing!!) have been finished- I'm over the mid-way point! Phew, what a lot of work, but I can't complain- very few vases so far have been seconds, so thank goodness for that!
Hope you have a great monday! It's our first rainy day of August.

Peony Princess
The palest of pink peony in my vintage Korean celadon bud vase has even our little kitten stopping to smell the flowers...
Hope you have a great weekend. It's Johnny's 8th birthday today so we are planning and getting ready for a slumber party complete with mini golf and movies!

Small kitty
Small kitty finds tight spaces to fit into. Sometimes we think we've lost her outside because we can't seem to find her anywhere. Eventually she wakes up and comes out of no where looking for food. Look how little she is now compared to my 7 year old son...

Spring chicks & baby kittens
My 'new' orange clogs that I found at the thrift store are proving to be the perfect slip-on shoe to be out in the yard with. Our miniature daffodils are blooming and the new baby chicks have arrived at Dean's folk's place.
And which kitten would you choose to take home? Our neighbours cat had 3 kittens on February 14th and we've been patiently waiting to have a new kitty in our home since our cat of 14 years had to be put down last June. Sasha and I are partial to the grey one, Johnny the one with the black head and Dean the one with the orange flecks. They are so tiny and won't be able to go to new homes for a little bit yet. Lots of time to decide...

house guest
We had a little female kitten come by our place yesterday and she got so much love she decided to stick around... The 'found' posters will go up around the neighbourhood today, to make sure she doesn't belong to another home. In the meantime it's been quite exciting for us all to have a pet again. Our beloved cat of 14 years died this spring and we passed along our bunny this summer to a little girl who's biggest wish was to have a bunny for her birthday. Please excuse the blurry shot, she's actually quite a cute cat but is much friskier than our 14 year old was! Tomorrow I'll be announcing a give-a-way to celebrate a few things over at dahlhaus so swing on by for that, tell a friend and leave a comment:) Until then, we're growing quite fond of our house guest!
