beautiful house, beautiful family

We stayed one night with really good friends who just moved to Victoria from Edmonton.  They have only been in their new home for a few months, and already I was loving all the letterpress posters and framed photos on the wall everywhere.  They have lots of plans for more paint and wallpaper - along with the character of this heritage home, it's going to be amazing! Of course our visit was full of laughter, good stories, great food and lots of getting used to a house full of girls (i.e. fairies & dressing up in fancy cloths!- so cute!).

Lovely Homes: Part 2

Ok here's a few more homes that I was drooling over on my walk with the kids the other evening.  The sun was casting some serious shadows and washing out the windows on some of these, but you get the idea... it was a lovely evening to be outside taking pictures of the homes in the neighbourhood that I like.
Our neighbourhood is a real mix of these lovely, charming houses but then there are a lot houses like ours, a little bungalow from the 60's that is sitting on a $million dollar lot.  So people with the cash to buy the property are just coming in for the view, tearing houses like ours down and building these monstrous houses that lack in the charm and character of the houses you see above.  All the little details that make these homes so lovely- like a curved roof, gabled windows, arched entryways and porches and ohhh, the windows, make me glad to live in such an architecturally diverse area.  Living in the suburbs with homes that are all the same, cookie cutter shapes of themselves doesn't seem quite so inspiring.

Lovely Homes Part 1

Lovely homes in our  neighbourhood that make me sing 'if I had a million dollars'.  And while they are no mansions, the price tag is, well, way out of our league! I love the veranda on the bottom photo on with the clover pattern.  The windows (so great!) make me think the view of the ocean would be so sweet from inside.
Hope your weekend is great!  We've got friends staying over and hopefully we will finally see some sun after having a week of solid rain...
