Hello Teacup

Thanks to this little Russian teacup, I might just have to enter a bit of a blue and white phase.

Fungi

I found an old copy of 'Edible Fungi' that my sister had in her bookshelf and poured over the illustrations.  And then on a walk with the boys I found a myriad of mushrooms in the forest, mostly in dark corners so my photos weren't so great.  Nonetheless, I wasn't about to test my new found knowledge.  With so many being poisonous, I would only trust an expert to compare the illustrations to the real thing, confirming that yes, indeed, this was one that could be eaten!

Stacks of stuff

Scenes from the 'Garden House' at the Hobby Farm, containing a veritable treasure trove of stuff all stacked up and hanging from the rafters.  Little glimpses into eras gone by, reminders of things that were once useful, but are no longer needed.
P.S. unfortunately those roller-skates are a size 10 and my feet are a size 8 otherwise those would have come home with me to try out for a while!

Ok so here's the story: we get records from people we don't know, people who hear about Dean's interest in record collecting and want to unload their hundreds of records that have been sitting idle in their basement onto us. A few years ago, Dean came home with boxes and boxes of records to sift through, records he had gotten from an older lady out on the West side who's husband had passed away. Her husband had great taste in records- all the great jazz records were there, including a substantial Frank Sinatra collection and a wack of Elvis records. Interestingly while I was looking at one of the Elvis records, I noticed some writing on it... is that... no.. can't be.. but it kind of looks like it's an Elvis signature, no? Well, it does say 'best wishes, Elvis' on the record cover, and maybe it's wishful thinking, who knows. (Incidentally Elvis did perform a concert here in Vancouver many moons ago. Plus, what avid record collector would fake sign an Elvis record?)
